Hi, I’m Sarah, the person behind Tailored Touch Editing

You know that one person who always corrects other people’s typos? That was me. One day, I realized I was pretty good at it. After I got my bachelor’s in English and history and my master’s in education, I learned from and cultivated my skills with Big Five publisher HarperCollins and esteemed literary agency Writers House. Since then, I’ve worked on too many projects to count, spanning essays, books, magazines, and more in nonfiction and some of my favorite fiction genres. (Niche fun fact: I also love working with clients on their postgraduate admissions essays.)

Now, here I am, with my own business. Early on, I realized that editing isn’t just about fixing a word that’s spelled incorrectly. It’s about getting to know the story that’s being told in order to apply the right edits, tailored to my clients’ needs. I move with intention, and I enjoy collaborating with clients to deliver meaningful, effective results that elevate their stories.

What’s My Approach?

Meticulousness

Am I a pro at spotting errors and catching inconsistencies? Yes. But being meticulous goes beyond these, to the approach. For me, this means asking questions meant to fully understand your story and characters so I can make edits tailored to your style and voice. My meticulousness and attention to both detail and the big picture are a big part of what makes me so good at the work I do.

Care

Here’s the thing: Your project is as important to me as it is to you. Know that if we work together, your book will be in good hands, and the right care will be applied to meeting your vision for it. My goal is to create long-lasting relationships, which is why most of my clients are long-time clients.

Collaboration

At the end of the day, your story will always be yours. I’m here to add that tailored touch to elevate that story, not replace it with my own.

Don’t take my word for it—take my clients’!

“Sarah is quick, thoughtful, and precise with her work. She considered the story I conveyed with words, dug for their raw and human components, and used her editing superpowers to showcase my identity and worth. For those considering soliciting her services, Sarah is undoubtedly better than ChatGPT.”

Jacqueline Lui, DPT

“Sarah is everything I could ask for in an editor. She deals with intimate scenes with style and grace, and she’s not precious if I push back on one of her suggestions. I recently did a rewrite of my first story, and Sarah was so clued in to my style and the story that her suggestions felt like my own.”
